Kanematsu USA's Chicago branch office is located in the nation's industrial heartland, 35 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Established in 1970, it's continual growth in sales has made it one of the largest U.S. branches. Structured as a combination office and warehousing facility, the branch also assists and supports other Japanese and Asian companies in their U.S. business transactions.
Import/export activities are conducted mainly in the Midwest, but customers are located throughout the U.S.
Operations are divided into four sales divisions:
Steel Dept
Precision forgings and components for automobile.
Specialty steel wire rods and bars.
Carbon & Stainless steel flat products.
Porcelain enamel steel sheet for marker & chalk board.
High-tech Dept
OEM & After market products (clutch, transmission, AC Generator, Actuator and etc.) for Motorcycle & ATV applications.
Automatic Transmission components (solenoid, plug, sleeve and etc.) for Automobile OEM application.
Display products (LCD, Touch Panel and etc.) for Automobile OEM application.
Electric components (Motor, Battery, DC-DC converter and etc.) for EV/HEV application.
Marine VHF Radios (Portable, Fixed) and Land Mobile Radios (Portable, Fixed) on an OEM and ODM basis.
Electronics Dept
Semiconductors, Sensors and LCD displays.
Resin Materials.
Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology.
Aerospace Dept
Equipment, components and modules for defense, civil aviation and space systems.
Other departments include General Affairs, Accounting and Traffic.
Having anticipated the business implications of NAFTA, in August 1995 Kanematsu established an office in San Diego, California (address: Suite 110 2300 Boswell Road, ChulaVista, CA 91914) well ahead of other trading companies. Japanese home electronics manufacturers have already set up operations in Tijuana, Mexico, and the area along the U.S. and Mexican border is becoming a more important base of operations.
As a trading company, the Chicago branch office assists and supports other Japanese and Asian companies to enhance their business in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
